mock exam essay
It seems that every day we see things coined as “organic products” from newspaper, TV and magazines. However, we never really show interests in purchasing them after we see the price labels. Whoops! It is costly. According to Tan (2007), in some countries such as Australia and Britain, people spend more on ethical goods than other products. The question arises: why are ethical products more common in some countries than in others? To answer the question, we need to consider four factors which influence people’s preference of goods. They are consumers’ budget, which determines the amount of money consumers are willing to spend; consumers’ rationales, which implies what they want from purchasing a good; educational level, which will raise their eco-awareness; and government policy, which will determine the amount and variety of ethical products within a country’s market.
The most important factor, budget for consumption, affects people’s purchasing power significantly. According to Tan (2007), in some countries, ethical products have already reached the mass in their markets. We can see from that, these countries, such as Britain and Australia, are developed countries with high GDP and GNP. Thus, they can spend more on healthy products than people in developing countries since they won’t result in insufficient budget for other consumptions. The monetary factor leads to a small amount of ethical products consumption simply because of people should consider more of balancing their budget for living, especially in developing countries.
Secondly, from psychological aspect, majority of consumers are rational. That is to say, they put more consideration on what they can get from certain goods rather than what is the cost for environment. For example, people concern more about whether the cosmetic products are organic and healthy to their skin compared to whether the plastic bags they hold will cause pollution when purchasing skin-care products. To some extent, consumers care more about how a product will affect them directly without seeing further cost for the environment.
However, some portion of consumers who show less interests for ethical products are not simply for the reason of being rational. It might due to their educational levels which will determine their recognition of the importance of showing consideration for environment and future consumption. Education is important for every one in order to raise the public awareness of environmental issues. For instance, people will not know why air-transported products will potentially increase global warming to a certain level if they know little about global warming. People might be rich with sufficient purchasing power. However, insufficient knowledge can still lead to low consumption of eco-friendly goods since their lack of eco-awareness.
The last factor is government policy which plays a role of guide of consumption. The influence and power of government can affect public purchasing of ethical products to a certain level. For a government, especially a government of developing country, which ranks economic growth first, it might tend to ignore the environment to achieve its goals. The government might not encourage organic product industry as developed countries’ governments do. Therefore, the domestic market might lack variety and amount of ethical products. People will naturally consume non-ethical because of insufficient choices and high prices of environmental-friendly goods.
In conclusion, budge for consumption, consumers’ rationale, educational level and government policy are four factors which influence people’s purchasing of ethical good crucially and importantly. We hope to see the improvements in some countries in educating people to raise the public awareness of ethical products purchasing accompany with the increase in GDP and GNP. We hope a better world and better lives in the future.

Chou Enlai---People's Republic of China
After the Communist victory in 1949, Chou became premier of the People's Republic. He was largely responsible for the creation and guidance of the new governmental bureaucracy and was also foreign minister. After 1949 he was also largely responsible for maintaining relations with the non-Communist political groups that supported the People's Republic.
Early in 1950 Chou negotiated in Moscow a treaty of alliance with the Soviet Union, and in 1952 he again went to Moscow, where he negotiated further agreements. In 1957 he played a significant role in negotiating settlements of issues arising from Polish and Hungarian conflicts with the Soviet Union. After Sino-Soviet relations deteriorated, he led the Chinese delegation that walked out of the Twenty-second Congress of the Soviet party in October 1961.
Chou also had to deal with acute crises in Sino-American relations that arose largely as a result of the Korean War. On Oct. 2, 1950, he delivered through the Indian ambassador a warning that China would intervene in the war if American troops crossed the 38th parallel. The American rejection of this warning brought a direct confrontation of American and Chinese troops in Korea. However, on Chou's initiative in 1955, Sino-American ambassadorial talks began in Warsaw.
Chou also was prominent in forming and implementing Chinese policy toward the Afro-Asian nations. He made extensive tours of Asia and Africa. In 1954 he led the Chinese delegation at the Geneva Conference and was instrumental in drawing up terms for the French evacuation of Indo-China. In 1960 he played a leading role in negotiating treaties delimiting Chinese frontiers with Burma, Nepal, Mongolia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan but failed to resolve the Indian frontier question despite a visit to New Delhi for talks with Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
Domestically, Chou played an essential role both as head of the administrative system and as peacemaker in the party. He actively supported Mao Tse-tung during the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution that developed in 1965, the major objective being to reinfuse revolutionary enthusiasm into Chinese society. At the end of this movement in 1969, Chou was the third-ranking member of the Chinese leadership, and later, after Lin Piao disappeared, the second-ranking member.
In 1975, Chou was dying of cancer, but he continued to serve China. In January, his report to the Fourth National People's Congress justified the Cultural Revolution as a battle against bourgeois tendencies and at the same time proposed the Four Modernizations (of agriculture, industry, national defense and technology). Chou died on January 8, 1976.

Catch Me if You Can
It is a movie based on a real story which took place in America in 1970s. Abagnale was an excellent teenager student when his father's business broke down and his mother left his father. Their divorce had a huge effect on him. After their divorce, he decided to run away from them. All of a sudden, it magically turned out that he was by himself alone in the world. In order to survive, he had to grow up quickly and be creative. However, the way he started his life made his life more and more gaming. As clever as albganale, he took every challenge while making himself an opportunist. He found satisfaction of getting rid of the detective's chasing, at the meantime, could not stop gaming even though he knew himself would ultimately lose.
Abagnale was an extremely clever student in his school and good boy of his parent. What makes him change is his parents' divorce. It is where I found the important role of a healthy family relationship plays in a teenager's emotion growth and psychological health. If his father didn't loose his business and his wife, Abagnale wouldn’t be that afraid to be a looser. Thus, it is extremely important for a family to be emotionally supported as well as economically stable. A family without emotionally supported family members, it might be impossible for it to go through an economic fluctuation. Furthermore, family members should not impose the danger of being economically cut off to a family, since material is also the foundation of a harmonious family.
Also, the behavior of parents influences teenagers to a significant degree. For example, treating was a skill his father had once taught him. Subsequently, Abagnale took advantage of it to get money from airlines, banks and hospitals. From that we can see, parents should behave themselves then educate their child. There is an old saying: parents are the best teachers for their own children. If parents can carefully consider what they do will affect their children before taking action, unconsciously children will learn the good things or qualities from their parents.
To conclude, family members’ behaviors are influential on the teens and it is important for a family to be emotionally supported and economically stable. We want to see more happy families and psychologically healthy teens.

Compare & Contrtrast between Winston Churchill and Zhou Enlai
(Revised )
Good emotional intelligence (EQ) enables leaders to promote their policies and communicate well with other people. The term EQ refers to “The ability to monitor one’s own and other’s feeling, to discriminate them and to use this information to guide one’s thinking and actions”(P. Salovey & J. Mayer), which includes areas such as interpersonal skills, mood management, impulse control, self-awareness and self-motivation. Prime Minister Winston Churchill of Britain and Zhou Enlai of the People’s Republic of China were both experts at interpersonal skills. However, the ways each one of them demonstrated the skills were different, affected by their countries’ political conditions. Winston Churchill was accomplished in persuasion skills by the use of language so that people could be easily involved in his speech and influenced by his mood. During Second World War, he made a very famous speech entitled “Blood, Sweat and Tears” after forming a new administration for the Great Britain. The speech adopted parallel sentence structure and rhetorical questions which worked well at inspiring people with courage to fight against the invaders. It ended successfully with all the audience members shouting out the slogan: “Come then, let us go forward together with our united strength”. Similar to Churchill, Zhou Enlai was good at interpersonal skills. He presented China’s policies to the world while using language creatively. However, different from Churchill, he was active in the period when China was newly founded and in the toughest time. Thus, he met many provocative questions from foreign reporters. For example, once a reporter triggered words to him: “Do you have prostitutes in China?” He replied: “Yes, we do, in Taiwan.” His answer shot four birds with only one stone. Basically, it was to answer the question. Next, it announced China’s policy of Taiwan dominion. Thirdly, it was protecting his country from insult. Lastly, it was so polite that the reporter didn’t lose face. In conclusion, good EQ is crucial for leaders since it can help them perfect the qualities needed to be successful leaders.

what will a lack of emotional intelligence affect a country in different aspects
A lack of emotional intelligence will cause disharmony within a country. Understanding each other by people is the foundation of a harmonious society. For countries like Singapore where many races live and work together, understanding and empathy are main factors for people of different races and religions to contribute to the country’s healthy growth. For example, the Indians usually add various kinds of spices into their food. Consequently, some special odor come out from their bodies. It is common that not every one like these kinds of odor. However, one should try their best to accept theirs eating habit, at least do not say anything negative about it. Because of different regions people originally came from, showing respect for others’ religions is a necessity. Giving Muslim pork is an insult. Moreover, religion has always been the one which causes debates, wars and civil strife. Thus, if people cannot give capacity for others, the country will get into trouble. As a result, emotional intelligence is so important for a country and society’s harmony and growth.

My Life's Meaning
Every one has different dreams throughout their lifetime. Dreams change with growing ages. I had once dreamed to be China’s great chairman when I was too young to think about what I could really do. Though, I have changed so much as years went by, one thing that has never change is to make life beautiful and healthy.
Eh, beautiful is a word which has a sweet pronunciation as its meaning. I am fond of thinking about things like that, though people usually tell me I have waste so much time. I like Chinese literature and can see the beauty inside every Chinese character. Sometime you can feel them by their structure they are built. When I see 紫(purple)and 恶(evil), I feel them totally different as if they have personalities which are stored in their bodies. I find the sensitivity to Chinese character makes me feel the beauty in the world. I learn to know what kind of clothes will make girl look gorgeous and in good shape, how to make the environment around me comfortable. Moreover, I start to appreciate the nature and be confident. “Living beautifully” is my philosophy of life.
Healthy life has two meanings to me. First, it is to develop a healthy life style. Second, it is to make people around me happy. I guess the second meaning is more difficult to understand than the former one. Actually, what I mean is to treat others with a pure-hearted attitude. Let my relationship with them be healthy and friendly. I am not an outgoing person who can easily get round. However, I always tell myself to be kind and never do anything that may be harmful to others. I have difficulty in expressing my ideas and it makes me standoff sometimes. But in my deep heart I am not that kind of cool person.
Life is like a dream. Like someone once said: “life is a bar of chocolate.” I will never know what it tastes until I have it in my mouth. However, having my beliefs, I will try my best to realize all my dreams.
